Custom Rom Tutorial:
1. Backup all data from your device.(Keep a backup of your apps and files on pc) 2. Download the custom rom of your choise and unzip it. You should have the following files: - factory_update_param.aml - patch_NCCE.zip - uImage_recovery - update.zip 3. Place all 4 files to the root (very first folder) of your external sd card. 4. With the turned device off place the sd card in it, press the Vol+ and Power buttons at the same time until it enters the upgrade menu, this should automatically start the upgrade/install procedure 5. Wait. Once the device is finished it will reboot back to system fully updated. Enjoy the upgrade!
The very first time loading a freshly flashed rom typically takes longer to boot so be patient with it.
Also if you remove the factory_update_param.aml file when holding Vol+ and Power button you will now enter the recovery menu and be able to manually select what you would like to do, install additional features, formatting user and system data, performing updates etc

Let's say I've been using this device a lot since NCCE .3b and I want to upgrade when 4b comes out. I have a ton of saves on my android games and emulators. How would I retain these while upgrading to the new rom?

Download titanium backup pro ideally and create a backup of all your system and app data. This will create a folder called titanium backup on the root of the sd card (this is the internal storage space but is called sd card on the system to cause confusion for some) Now copy that folder to your external sd card (this is important as when you update to a new rom the internal storage will more than likely get wiped) Now once you have updated to your new rom NCCE 0.4 etc, copy that titanium backup folder back from your external sd card to the internal storage (sd card) now run a batch restore in titanium back up and all your applications, games and saved game data will be restored. The only thing is you will manually have to set up all your home screens and short cuts again but thats only a minor procedure.
There are many back up applications on the android market, and some rate other backup apps as being better than titanium back up. I personally have used this tool for years with no issues what so ever so i have never tried any of the other apps. you can also use this method to move game saves from your android phone to the s7300 if you dont wish to have to start games over from scratch
Edit- I also like to keep a copy of the backup folder on my pc for safe keeping just in case something goes wrong, this has been useful in the past for my other android devises

Just recently updated my S7300 to the NCCE ROM, very nice indeed The process has been made very easy, which is of course good. I followed your steps above. Took the liberty of ripping your words and adding to a visual guide, even though it is nice and simple, some people like the visuals eh. Expand the below for the same steps Phelsumania has given above, just with a few added screenshots for your pleasure: link s8.postimage.org/rixppfppf/S7300_NCCCE_Custom_Rom_Update.pngcheers
