s7300 Source Code Released!

A user over on the Dingoonity.org boards has received a message from JXD stating that they will release the source code next week, here is the picture of the email:

Edit: Apparently the original download of the source files yielded a corrupted zip which was missing tons of files. They have since redownloaded it and the whole thing is genuinely the source for the s7300. They've even found a fix for the 60Hz screen issue! Awesome!

Another poster on Dingoonity.org just got this email from JXD regarding the screen and it being at 50Hz and fixed up to 60Hz:

"Hello,This problem is solved, we will as soon as possible given the results, today is our first day of work after the holidays"

whey amazing news, however i suspect whom every wrote this email on JXDs side was smoking crack, Releasing the Kernel source? That dont sound like JXD. Can not wait to see if they pull through with this would be nice to see the beasts full potential unlocked.

lol, when i saw this i thought just purely for the fact the grammar and spelling from the staff that replied was so poor that the likelyhood was the user had completely doctored the entire email xD

Do you mean because they provided the pirated apks in the "source"?

As far as I can tell, they provided source for both their rom and kernel.

No, it has nothing to do with pirated or original material. They messaged someone stating they would release their "source" and all they provided was the firmware, not the source code which build it.

Here's the message from a member of the NCCE team who received the "source" that everyone is talking about:

skelton looked at the files, I looked at the files. No kernel sources for firmware are found in here. this is just firmware perhaps the latest one they did without compiling. Like skelton said either they don't know what source is or they don't want to facilitate kernel source. Im no good with chinese but I either want:
The kernel they claim fixes the 50hz issue.
The HARDWARE firmware files in source that are use to build a kernel, ones we can edit and check for errors and contextual bugs.
either of those would merit a NCCE .4 besides that minor changes aren't worth a wipe of your data now. 

So in plain words, in order for a .4, .5 ect of NCCE to come out its because it changes one of these points:
-screen to 60hz from 50
-mapping tool adds r analog stick user setting, separate dpad mapping as 4 buttons and separate from analog.
-hardware keys remapped to separate d pad and add analog sticks as mapeable keys in games and emus that support it.
-some graphic lib change to fix the shadows issue.

for any of those It's most likely we need:
-Update from jxd itself with the compiled update.
-Real kernel source-code for us to compile a kernel from base from manufacturers.
-a large grp of coders with ideas and desire to do a project from scratch(doubtful this would happen)
-nothing short of a miracle

lets hope the kernel is just a miscommunication and we get that, next best thing is a update release from them the other 2 are just wishful thinking at best.

and thanks skelton for looking at the files, sorry you had to waste bandwith on that heap of data lol, I feel like slapping JXD tecnical team.

Whelp, looks like the original file was corrupted when the members of Dingoonity downloaded it. They have since redownloaded the source and found that the original corrupt source was missing 2000+ files.

They have FIXED THE 60HZ ISSUE!

They are still testing the 60Hz fix though, but it looks like they are making great progress so far. A couple of users are also on the hunt for the files which pertain to the key mapping/joysticks of the device. Soon the s7300 might just be the best Android gaming device on the market!

Yeah i saw earlier vektor had uploaded the vid of the fixed 60hz issue, great work from the various devs and those putting in an imput on the technical side. It will be interesting to see how the s7300 evolves now that the Source is available to those with knowledge and ability to use it, with different members hunting out different fixes. enabling the full potential of the game pad and nubs will be the game changer for getting the android games compatibility list up.

Great to hear the source was actually released in that update =) But what exactly is the 60hz issue? What did it do to games/emulators?

Certain games and emulators will run at either 50Hz or 60Hz. American games run at 60hz and European games run at 50hz the s7300 is currently locked to 50hz for absolutely no sane reason it can run 60hz but JXD thought it was a great idea to lock the screen to 50hz?
Just thought of this as well i would imagine it means if anyone in america buys a s7300 they wont be able to put there dvds and media on the tablet as that will run at 60hz as well.

The effect this has is if you try to run a game or an emulator which operates at 60hz on a 50hz screen it will create a very distracting 10Hz flicker on the screen, kinda looks like a black strobe light flashing on the screen. basically every couple of frames are just a black screens.

It has to do with the frequency of electricity. North America is 60Hz based so North American TVs and consoles run at 60Hz. Europe and a lot of the rest of the world is 50Hz based and so those run at 50Hz. This is used as as descriptor because the the frequency of electricity is used as a baseline for other aspects such as frame rate which is what causes the black flickering when trying to run a 60hz game on 50hz screen.
