Hello and thank you for visiting or joining in the fun. This thread is a place for new users to introduce themselves to the community. I am Phelsumania my user name derives from the genus Phelsuma, these are a species of gecko which i absolutely adore there gorgeous. And many people have said i am a maniac so i have combined the two to create my user name ;D. I am an avid gamer and love these obscure hand-held devices i can not get enough of them. This is my first attempt at a web site so it might be a little messy for a few days but i will try my best to tidy it up as soon as possible. And try to get as much content in here as quickly as possible without copy right infringements. ;D

Hi everyone, my name is Peter. I got tired of playing all the great .EMU and other emulators on my iPad using a wiimote and a classic controller, so I started looking into getting a dedicated emulation console. Since I was already used to the larger screen of the IPad, the 7300 seemed a good choice. I look forward to talking with all of you!

Hi peter thanks for joining I am a massive retro gamer as well. Can't get enough have you ever herd of the openpandora its a dedicated micro PC the size of a Nintendo D's but its a fully fledged PC but will also run android and other is and with the most amazing game controls for retro gaming. Its a beast if you play emus and old games, the controls are just perfect and it has the most insane battery life for retro gaming with the right settings your looking at 16+ hours minimum no joke and it can be pushed much further Before a charge is needed. You can look them up at openpandora.org if you've never come across them. They are pricey but there are 3 versions of it and if you're only after retro gaming you can pick up the older cc units or units missing WiFi/Bluetooth etc from dragon box.de off a guy called evildragon he is a god, proper top bloke, for a fraction of the newer model price. I promise you won't be disappointed mine ruined my life because I can't put the damn thing down. ;D. I've purchased the jxd s7300 for android gaming at home mainly because I have one of the first Pandoras with the lowest amount of ram which can't quite handle the newer android games. So its going to be s7300 for android. And will continue to use the Pandora for all PC tasks and retro gaming. And a Samsung galaxy note with sixaxis for gaming at work (on breaks of course)

hi, my name is Toby. the 7300 will be my first handheld since my GBC, back in the day, and my first android device ever. so if i ever come off as being super "noobish" it's because i am.
i've been super interested in getting a portable emulator device for a while now and originally was looking into the Dingoo a320 or a380. after a lot of research, though, i decided i wanted something that could run N64 and PS1 games too. and unfortunately the Dingoos just can't swing that (i still think they look pretty rad). when i found out about JXD and the 7300 i was pretty much sold as far as the balance between specs and aesthetics and such goes. plus, being able to play android games too doesn't hurt. i'm just hoping the community blows up so the device can live up to it's potential.
although i'm new to the scene, i am really looking forward to helping where i can on the customization side of things. i love functionality, but i also like things to look awesome doing what they do. "stock" items kind of make me sad, haha. no, but really i'm pretty excited to see so much interest and community in the 7300 already. i too look forward to talking to and learning from all of you!

Yo I am glad I found this forum because I am considering getting this for serious business, but I have my reservations.
If I buy this it would be my first tablet. I know that it is designed for games (obviously), but I want I am wondering if it will be effective enough for other things, such as say, read PDF files and occasionally browse the internet. The price is competitive, and it seems capable of doing simple things superbly. I was originally put off by it not having bluetooth, but I realized the only device I would ever connect to would be a controller, and this does not need one. Well, if I do TV out, I can't connect controllers to it and play it like a console, so that is one small thing.
I also considered getting a Nexus 7, as that is supposedly the best tablet at that pricepoint. However, as a gamer and lover of books I only ever seem to have in PDF of CHM, this might be all I need. Am I really losing anything by not getting a more powerful device?!
I am a retro gamer, but I have this quirk where I only like playing retro games on handhelds. I like to reserve my TV for the current generation. I have a PSP, Vita, DSiXL, 3DS, Caanoo, Revo K101, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance.
From everything I said above, can anyone here recommend the JXD 7300 for me? I am ready to pounce, but if someone wants to steer me to something better for tablets, I would love an honest suggestion. Obviously, everyone here is biased, but guess what, so am I! I am biased towards buying this!

To the guys who have one, whats your opinion? how well does the n64 emu run? (not just mario 64). will it only connect to pc or can i update it and put files on it with my mac.

hi there trevor welcome to the forums, as are Phelsumania and I, i'll direct your question to sony the forum moderator as he seems to know a fair bit about this handheld already, i'm afraid i don't own one yet so i will not be able to comment, obviously i would presume this is a one off but the likelyhood of your question getting missed out for a while would of been likely if i had not browsed through the new posts seeing as this is just the introduce yourself section

sup trevor, gotortoise welcome. Sorry Trevor i can only speculate at this point in time the quality of emulation for the s7300 i am eagerly awaiting mine today or tomorrow. It should play ps1 games fine, just might need some tweaking, at first. N64 on the otherhand is alot more complex and dont expect every game to run, n64 has come along way but basically you will probably get mario64/kart, goldeneye, perfect dark, star fox, zelda running at a playable speed but the rest of the games bar a few probably not what i would class as a playable speed. But that is the case for every handheld on the market unfortunately. And Gotortoise the s7300 should be more than capable for handling PDF files and occasionally browse the internet, i think the main question is whats the battery life going to be like because n64 emulation will drink the battery. And how well are the controls made, because if there not right its irrelevant if all the games are emulated correctly, but then controls suck and make them unplayable anyway. I fully believe the controls and emus will be fine, just be realistic with what you expect to run perfectly smooth. It sounds like both of you have been looking in the market for new gaming device a little while now what other alternatives have taken your interest out of a matter of interest?

To be honest, when it comes to gaming devices, the only thing I don't own is an Android device. Everything else I have, from my iPhone, a GameBoy Advance (Revo K101), Mod PSP for NES, GB(C), and PS1. The glory of a device like the JXD s7300 is the screen real estate and the controls. I don't need it to do anything more than read on it and comfortably go to a browser for hyperlinked ebooks.
I am considering the GCW, because it is gorgeous, but I am not sure if it will do emulation significantly better. However, I may end up buying it anyways.
What I am really hoping is that the JXD can handle SNES games smoothly. PS1 games would be awesome since there are two analogue sticks and four shoulder buttons. What more, I have also wanted an Android device to play SCUMMVM games, because the touch screen seems perfect for that. I also hope that games like Shantae for GBC will run smoothly with no frameskip.
Oh yeah, I also don't own a Pandora, but, I can't really justify the cost.
Yeah, the battery life may be my deciding factor against it, but I am wondering if it only really drains for high-processing emulators. I am bet I can play an NES game all day long.
I know it might be underpowered compared to say, the Nexus 7, and may drain faster, but somehow I want to support JXD, only if it means that the quality will get better so that the American market wont discuss Chinese products as a joke. For a country that makes most of the things I own, I really want to believe that I can find alternative products, like tablets, that can practically compete with what is popular.

Yeah that GCW has looked rather interesting, the fact its open source, would suggest its going to be well supported with optimised emulators, the only off put for me personally is i have been using 5" screens now for about 4 years so anything smaller is a strain on the eyes and dont think i could every go back to anything smaller. I genuinely believe the s7300 is going to be amazing, it just is going to take a few months to get the software running correctly in theory it should be able to run all the emulators bar n64 onwards flawlessly. Thats the Pandoras only down side is it is quite pricey, but they are worth every penny, guaranteed to run all your emus perfectly with no sound lag and controls that feel perfect, and can do absolutely everything else on the side. But on a smaller budget the s7300 should be the way to go

Hi guys,
Alan here! I'm a retro gamer and home automation software developer and i'm happy to be onboard here at jxd7300.com
Having grown up in the 80's and 90's i have been playing consoles from the original nintendo entertainment system upto my very last console the original Xbox. The JXD s7300 appealed to me mainly because the button layouts worked well for super nintendo and the sony playstation.
Received mine earlier this week from willgoo preorder (DHL shipping only took 3 days including sunday). Tested the unit and though i was initially unimpressed after a few days of tweeking and testing various applications i think i've almost got it at a stage where i'm quite happy. Especially with mapped hard buttons to the emulators i play (NES, SNES, GBA & PSX).
Anyway hopefully i can also help contribute to the s7300 community. You lot seem to be an awesome bunch.
-Alan
